The Yellow Ribbon NGO & Artisan Fair

The Yellow Ribbon NGO & Artisan Fair (YRNF) is an annual event held prior to Diwali. YRNF is a unique platform that brings the collective work of NGOs, artisans and SHGs across India providing them with a platform to reach out to their stakeholders be it – individuals, corporate, government bodies among others. It provides them with a unique opportunity to learn, share, network & generate new ideas and awareness about the marketing trends with the urban and rural markets. This fair is supported by NABARD.

The 8th edition of Ishanya Foundation’s annual pre-Diwali ‘Yellow Ribbon NGO Fair’ (YRNF, with the theme “Make in India” that was held from 30th October 2015 to 2nd November, 2015 at Ishanya Mall, Pune saw an inclusion of Artisans at the Fair. There were new entrants of Artisans from all across India like Benares, Bhuj, Orissa, Latur to name a few.

The YRNF was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shaina NC, Fashion Designer, Social activist, Spokesperson & Treasurer BJP Maharashtra. This event saw participation from 119 NGOs, Self Help Groups (SHG) and artisans, giving them an excellent platform to develop their marketing & packaging skills. Gift Hampers worth Rs. 2500 each comprising of items from various NGO Stalls received an overwhelming response.

Entrepreneurship YRNF

Om Mahila Bachat Gat from Matheran is famous for making chappals. IsFon added value to their business by adding current trends like pompoms for their Kolhapuri chappals. Special laces, idea of creating platform heels and the method for calculating costing was given by IsFon. All these factors helped Om Mahila Bachat Gat to increase their sales and income.

Mr. Dinkar is physically challenged and used to sell hand pound masalas with the help of women under Maheshwari Mahila Bachat Gat. IsFon with the help of its core group members provided specific ratios, quality of spices to be used and information on packaging. All this helped in increasing his sales to over Rs. 65,000/- at the YRNF exhibition alone. Marketing linkage for supply of masalas to individual households will be done by the GAT.

Pad Paree

With the launch of the Pad Paree intervention, IsFon has set out to work for safe menstrual practices in its target areas of operation in Pune. The project will help change the mindset of the women by challenging the taboos and stigma associated with menstruation.

The Pad Paree will have a one-on-one interaction with women to make them understand the concept of menstrual hygiene and sell the pads at nominal cost. The activity which is being carried out at the slums and will help reduce the related health hazards.

Pad Parees at the launch of the intervention, who will create awareness about menstrual hygiene among the masses. Program was inaugurated by Ms. Ritu Nathani, Chairperson, Cybage Foundation, Ms. Parul Mehta, Trustee – IsFon & Ms. Geeta Bora from Spherule Foundation.

About 29 women registered for PAD PAREE during the launch who apart from creating awareness about menstrual hygiene will earn a secondary source of income.
